“I love the master suite, but if only the bathroom had a…”  You’ve thought it as you’ve gone home shopping. Almost perfect.  Nearly. That is the single biggest reason for new homes—finding exactly the right fit isn’t as easy as anyone wants it to be, but building the right fit for your family gives you the edge in all the areas you consider most important.  Want kitchen pantry shelves big enough for tall cereal boxes? Put that into the specs.  Need bathroom cabinets that are taller than average?  Want a garage that accommodates the lawn mower, some motorcycles, and three cars? Your choice. Do it!  Make the home fit your life.

New homes are a daunting prospect for a lot of people. The number of decisions you have to make is enormous, and you worry the stress will make your hair fall out.  But talk to people who have built homes and you’ll find out that the builder makes a world of difference.  Buyers who have a good builder prefer new homes because the builder makes the process do-able and not miserable.

You also get a couple of other benefits with new homes.

When you buy an existing home, you can get a lot of history, which can be wonderful.  But it can also be worrisome.  You won’t always know whether the roof leaked two years ago or whether the sprinkling system leaves a huge yellow spot every year in July.  We don’t have home identification numbers with records of service like we do for cars, so you don’t know if the furnace filter was changed every six months or not.

If you buy a new home, not only is it customized for your needs, for your family, and for your activities, it is also completely unmarked by previous use. That is a pretty great feeling.
